All-Star Cheer

What is All-Star Cheer?

All Star Cheer is a high energy, team-based, performance sport that is athletic, artistic and acrobatic. It involves athletes competing with a 2 and a 1/2 minute routine composed of tumbling, stunting, pyramids, dance and cheer segments. While some skills are individually developed, such as tumbling or dancing, partner stunts, pyramids and tosses require a great deal of teamwork and routines require synchronization and team uniformity.

All Star Cheer differs from traditional school cheer teams in that its primary purpose is competition, while school cheer involves crowd leading and other school roles, as well as the option for competition. All Star cheer teams are most often organized and based out of a club and have teams that are open to all area cheer athletes.

Teams are formed based on tiers for every ability level, from Novice to Elite. All Star rules are leveled based on progressions of skills commonly performed in cheer and are developmentally appropriate for the age of the competitor. Teams range from Level 1 to Level 7.

All-Star Divisions

FUNDAMENTALS

Created for individuals who want to discover All Star cheer in a fun, non-competitive, technique-centered atmosphere. FUNdamentals prepares young athletes for more competitive and performance-based teams.

NOVICE

For individuals who are new to All Star but ready for performance-based teams that are evaluated at events. Novice teams focus on strengthening technique and performance skills that help prepare athletes for competitive All Star teams.

PREP

For individuals with limited tumbling who want to strengthen technique and performance skills in a competitive team atmosphere. Prep teams typically require less time and cost commitments than are required of All Star Elite teams.

Prep cheerleading in the All-Star sphere creates a flexible and preparatory competitive cheerleading experience for athletes new and old! Our prep athletes can expect to work within their teams’ stunt and tumble levels. Prep teams have elite quality coaching, with less competitions built in. Unique to the All-Star Prep program are team levels with different stunting/tumbling built in - for example, a prep 2.1 would stunt level 2 and tumble level 1.

Prep teams can choose between full and half year options, and would compete regionally (no flights.) Prep teams can expect to practice no more than 2x a week. Don’t be fooled - prep is still highly competitive and could be a fast-track to elite for the future!

ELITE

All Star Elite is the highest performance level that All Star cheer has to offer! All Star Elite athletes have strong foundational cheer and tumbling training and are dedicated to the sport. Elite athletes want to take their “cheer life” to the next level and compete at prestigious competitions, both locally and nationally.

Being part of an elite cheerleading team is a competitive experience like no other. Our elite program athletes can expect to train to perfection, compete with mastery at their skill level, and bond at 6-7 in-season competitions. Our elite teams will practice 3x a week starting in the Fall, and all practices are mandatory. Elite teams will work their way toward the program’s postseason goal competition, TBA, which can sometimes include a flight.

Why All-Star Cheer?

All Star helps athletes acquire valuable skills and develop friendships that will later serve them in all facets of life. Here are a few of the programming and disciplines the USASF offers.

SELF CONFIDENCE

Athletes develop self-confidence the more they learn about themselves and their abilities. All Star helps each athlete discover and express his or her inner artistry and strength through the joy of cheer and dance.

LIFE LONG FRIENDSHIP

Working as a team toward a common goal creates bonds that are strengthened with each practice, performance and competition. All Star provides athletes the opportunity to engage with other athletes while developing their skills and deepening their experience in cheer and dance. Our athletes develop a sense of camaraderie and community, allowing them to nurture strong relationships that last a lifetime.

TIME MANAGEMENT

Through All Star, athletes learn about time management, commitment and discipline. Teammates often encourage each other on and off the floor, helping one another keep track of schedules and academic responsibilities.

PHYSICAL FITNESS

All Star’s fun and unique source of exercise instills a discipline that promotes healthy living. Through cheer and dance, athletes build stamina, strength, endurance and coordination.

RESPECT

All Star doesn’t just teach the fundamentals of cheer or dance, it also instills respect for oneself and others. Athletes learn to respect their coaches who guide them and to follow rules that ensure practices and competitions are fair and safe. They also learn good sportsmanship and the importance of treating their opponents respectfully, win or lose.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

Through All Star, athletes learn about responsibility as they recognize the vital roles they each play on their team. They learn that leadership is more than being the best or on top — it’s about being accountable for their actions and role models for sportsmanship.
